Tropical botanicals and the melodic strains of Spanish music add to the ambience, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.
What we tried
Priyanko Sarkar, a renowned spirits journalist, leads Lyla's cocktail menu, weaving narratives inspired by the Spanish and Californian Gold Rushes. Tequilas and mezcals take center stage, accompanied by intriguing concoctions like the Cali Peeli—a Mumbai-inspired twist on the Paloma—and the refreshing Mango Picante with avocado. Each sip unveils layers of flavour, from the zesty Not My Day to the sophisticated Lyla’s Call, capturing the essence of the menu's theme.
The menu helmed by Chef Beena Noronha, transcends borders, blending Mexico's bold flavors with California's innovative techniques. Each dish tells a story, celebrating seasonal ingredients with flair. Our culinary journey began with a hands-on experience, crafting the Summer Garden Guacamole tableside, adorned with feta cheese and pomegranate for a delightful twist. Savoury Lima Churros followed, offering an enticing fusion of flavors.
Venture beyond traditional fare as you sample BBQ Tiger Prawns, a refreshing medley of grilled black tiger prawns, saffron aioli, mango salsa, charred lemon and dill leaves. For mains, we indulged in the Chicken Adobo which was essentially a grilled chicken leg paired with spicy adobo gravy and served with coconut rice.
Verdict
Whether you're seeking a midday escape or a lively evening rendezvous, Lyla delivers an unparalleled fusion of Mexican and Californian cuisine. From the savoury finger-licking churros to the refreshing zest of handcrafted cocktails, each bite and sip at Lyla is a symphony of flavours. Step into this culinary oasis and immerse yourself in a world where bold and innovative dishes reign supreme, promising an experience that will linger long after the last bite.
