Nestled within the heritage building of Kitaab Mahal in Fort, KMC is a space that seamlessly blends history with contemporary charm. At first glance, stepping onto the first floor may feel like entering an old structure, but once inside, a beautifully curated ambiance welcomes you, effortlessly bridging the past and present.

The aesthetic of KMC is reminiscent of an English-Parisian bar, with subtle elements that nod to nostalgia—be it the vintage typewriter at the entrance or the pop-culture posters adorning the walls. The space itself offers multiple experiences, making it difficult to categorize. It is a co-working space, a cozy cafe for book lovers and freelance writers seeking inspiration, a lively hangout spot for friends, and a sophisticated venue for an intimate dinner date or an evening of music and drinks.

KMC, which stands for Khana, Mehfil, Charcha, stays true to its name. Created by Chef Niyati Rao and Sagar Neve, the minds behind Ekaa, the venue adds another feather to their culinary cap. Upon entering, we were greeted by the warm and hospitable staff, who enthusiastically guided us through the menu and recommended some intriguing dishes. Our experience began with an effervescent glass of Gor Kari Kombucha, serving as a refreshing start to our meal. Accompanied by freshly baked soft focaccia bread served with delightful tomato butter, the first few bites already set high expectations for the rest of our dining experience.

Gastronomic Adventures of KMC
One of the standout dishes was the Cream Cheese Wontons, delicately floating in flavorful truffle oil. The wontons were impeccably crafted—thin, crispy, and bursting with a luscious, nutty, and creamy filling that simply melted in our mouths. The truffle oil added an exquisite depth of flavor, elevating the dish to an indulgent experience.

Following this, we tried the Shrimp Gambas Aglio e Olio, a dish that beautifully marries Spanish and Indian influences. The infusion of olive oil with Indian spices created a unique fusion, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Served with more soft focaccia bread, this dish was both comforting and innovative.

For the plant-based enthusiasts, the Beetroot-based Vegan Sub was a revelation. Often dismissed as a bland vegetable, beetroot was given a starring role in this sandwich, proving that it can be transformed into something delectable with the right technique and seasoning. The sub was packed with flavors and textures that made every bite a delight.

Of course, no meal is complete without dessert, and KMC did not disappoint. We indulged in two exceptionally creative sweet treats. The first was a Pina Colada-inspired dessert—creamy, dreamy, and topped with delicate coconut shreds that enhanced the tropical flavors. It was an imaginative take on the classic drink, transforming it into a spoonable delight. The second dessert was a Rich Dark Chocolate Hazelnut creation with a creamy Kahlua mousse. Each spoonful was a rich and decadent affair, making it the perfect way to end our meal.

Mastering the Pour: KMC’s Mixology Magic
Beyond the food, KMC is also a haven for cocktail lovers. With an impressive selection of 28 cocktails on the menu, the bar prides itself on crafting personalized drinks upon request. Some highlights from the menu included the Vodka-infused sweet and fruity French Martini, the classic Italian Negroni for gin lovers, a robust Manhattan for whiskey aficionados, and the refreshing Bellini infused with peach and prosecco for those seeking something light and elegant.
