Nestled in the heart of Pune's Kalyani Nagar, Soy Como Soy has become a destination for adventurous food lovers. With the launch of Nikkei 2.0, the restaurant’s new menu reimagines Japanese and Peruvian fusion through an ingredient-driven, technique-forward approach. Drawing from the finest ingredients sourced from Japan and Peru, the menu offers a thoughtfully curated blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the skill and passion of Soy Como Soy's culinary team.

Sandy Singh of Soy Como Soy explains the inspiration behind Nikkei 2.0: “After some extensive research and inspiration from some of the best Nikkei restaurants in the world, we are very excited to launch our latest menu. This eclectic mix of timeless classics, ingredient-driven, and technique-forward dishes will gratify all five senses.”

Ambience
Situated within the lush streets of Kalyani Nagar, Soy Como Soy’s atmosphere is both intimate and vibrant. It is reminiscent of a Japanese izakaya with subtle Peruvian influences. Warm lighting and tasteful decor offer a cozy, inviting environment that enhances the dining experience, while an open cold bar invites guests to witness the precise preparation of sushi, ceviche, and other delicate dishes.

What We Tried
The culinary journey begins with refreshing starters like Crab Salad and Chilled Tofu Salad, each dressed in elegant Japanese-inspired flavors. The Akami Tuna with Crispy Rice from the appetizer section provides a delightful texture contrast, while the Hokkaido Scallop seasoned with Japanese seven-spice delivers a subtle heat.

We went ahead with the Chicken Laksa Curry and the Karashi Chicken for the main course. The Chicken Laksa Curry prepared in coconut milk and spices formed a creamy base complemented by tender chicken, noodles, and bright citrus notes that had us drooling for more. On the other hand, the Karashi Chicken featured tender chicken glazed with spicy Japanese mustard (karashi), balanced with soy and citrusy Peruvian touches, offering a vibrant, tangy kick.

We decided to try the Japanese Cheesecake with Goji Berry Sorbet for dessert. It was soft, airy, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The creamy cake and fruity sorbet came together for a perfectly balanced, light dessert.

What We Loved
The meticulous attention to detail in each dish was a defining characteristic of Nikkei 2.0, but a few highlights stood out. The Akami Tuna with Crispy Rice had a perfect texture contrast, while the Chicken Laksa Curry impressed with its creamy coconut base and bold Japanese-Peruvian flavors. The Karashi Chicken delivered a vibrant, tangy kick with its spicy mustard glaze and citrusy balance. To end on a high note, the Japanese Cheesecake with Goji Berry Sorbet was light, airy, and perfectly complemented by the refreshing, fruity sorbet—a delightful finish to the meal.

Verdict
Nikkei 2.0 at Soy Como Soy celebrates cultural fusion the right way. Through a blend of carefully sourced ingredients, refined techniques, and stunning presentation, Soy Como Soy offers an elevated dining experience unique to Pune. Perfect for those exploring vibrant flavors and innovative dishes, Nikkei 2.0 is a must-try for culinary adventurers and fusion food lovers.
