Tucked into the cafe-heavy streets of Bandra West, Basque by Brevé has built its reputation around its Basque Cheesecake. Within minutes of being there, I saw multiple groups arrive, order a slice, and dive right in. The menu is small but thoughtful, focusing on quality over quantity.

Ambiance
The cafe’s sea-green exterior and pink seating immediately caught my attention, striking a balance between charm and simplicity. The wooden floors and understated setup created a calm, welcoming space inside. The open kitchen blended seamlessly into the background. Once seated, the noise and chaos of the street outside felt far removed.

What We Tried
The Basque Signature Cold Coffee is simple and refreshing, but it’s best enjoyed quickly since the melting ice can dilute the flavor. The hot chocolate, however, is pure indulgence. It’s rich and velvety, like sipping melted chocolate—a perfect treat for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Next, I ordered the truffle mushroom pie. It had a beautiful buttery crust and a well-balanced filling of caramelized mushrooms and truffle. If truffle is not your thing, then their Croque Monsieur is a solid choice. It’s a savory sandwich with thyme-infused béchamel and smoky chicken, made even better by the tangy orange chutney on the side. The chutney adds just the right amount of brightness to offset the richness of the dish.

Last but not least, I had to try their Basque Cheesecake. You can get it plain but I had it with fresh strawberries and a milk chocolate sauce. It’s a well-thought-out dessert. The creamy cheesecake, tangy strawberries, and sweet chocolate are a perfect combination. Make sure you get all three in every bite—it’s just not the same without all the elements.

Final Thoughts
Even with a few improvements, Basque by Brevé does a fantastic job. The menu is small but there are still options for every palate. The care that goes into the food and the inviting atmosphere make it a place worth visiting.

If you’re in the area, give it a try. Whether you’re there for the famous cheesecake or a quiet coffee break, Basque by Breve offers a unique experience worth checking out.
