  • Heat 2-3 tbsp oil
  • Once the oil is hot, add 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • Add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • Add 7-8 crushed garlic cloves
  • Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Add finely chopped onions
  • Now add salt as per taste
  • Add chopped bitter melon
  • Mix well
  • TIP: Adding the onions and bitter melon together, helps reduce the bitterness
  • Now add 1 tsp mix masala
  • Add 1 tbsp sugar
  • Add water
  • Mix well
  • Cover the vegetable and allow it to cook under the steam
  • Ready to serve
