Method
- Wash the rice twice
- Do not wash the rice more than twice as it tends to break
- Add the washed rice into the vessel
- Add 2 cups of water
- And salt according to taste
- Mix it
- When making biryani rice, use basmati rice or kolam, add lime juice which helps the rice become non-sticky
- Leave the rice to boil for 5-10 mins
- If there is excess water in the rice, do drain it once the rice is cooked
- Once the water has dried, to check if rice is cooked, smash a few grains with your fingers
- Let the rice cook for couple of minutes under steam (approximately 2 minutes)
- Plain rice is ready
