Chembur has a food truck serving American fast food.
This food truck in Chembur is answer to all our fast food prayers. On a rainy evening, on our way back from a rigorous walk, we spotted this small, bright yellow food truck parked right behind Sindhi Gymkhana in Chembur’s Sindhi Society. Soon we were refilling our lost calories with fried chicken, fried mushrooms and hot chicken wings!
And guess what? We’re already planning lifetime supply of that juicy, perfectly crumbed fried chicken. Started by childhood buddies Ron and Rizwan, Philoo’s Food Truck is almost a month old now. The idea of a full-fledged food truck struck the duo after a successful test run at a college festival. They read up all the information to start a food truck available online, got their friends together and built a portable kitchen. Ron’s education at a catering college, which he had to leave midway, and an internship with Taj Land’s End came in handy while creating the menu.

Philoo’s Food Truck has a small menu serving American fast food – burgers, fried chicken, chicken wings, fried mushrooms and rolls. They’ve just added Mediterranean (Greek) Gyros to the menu for which they use a naan-like Hungarian bread – made in-house – instead of pita. We loved the spicy filling of chicken with heavy lashing of garlic mayonnaise. We’re told that there’s a secret spice mix that goes in the batter of fried chicken. The hot chicken wings are really hot and a perfect foil for your beer and game nights.
For now, Ron and Rizwan want to stay put at Sindhi Society, but the aim is to create a buzz on social media a la movie Chef and get to various parts of the city.
