Try the Kyoto cheesecake at Daniel Patissier.
Tucked away inside a small street in Bandra next to Jai Hind College is a small bakery with beautiful white exteriors and a colourful window display. The elegant decor and pretty treats are the first things that came to our notice when we visited Daniel Patissier recently.
Although the patisserie has been around for more than a year, it has finally evolved from being a pop-up at Jim-Me’s Kitchen to a full-fledged outlet. What's more, they have already created a buzz with their unique macaron (Rs. 75) flavours!
Get ready to explore a variety of flavours like Bubblegum – vibrant blue macarons filled with bright pink Bubblegum-flavoured ganache, Mango and Passion Fruit – bright yellow macaronsfilled with a mango and passion fruit ganache, Salted Caramel – pieces of popcorn glued to the macaron shells, and Olive macaron – infused with olive oil and pieces of chopped olives in the ganache.
Adding to the sweet treats are their cake pops (Rs. 60), cupcakes (Rs. 75) and almond rochers (Rs. 390 for 100 gm). With cupcake flavours like signature red velvet and mallowy chocolate to name a few, Daniel offers a variety for the adventurous sweet tooth. The almond rochers, essentially giant French almonds coated with milk chocolate, are truly a steal.
However, the star of the place is the Kyoto cheesecake (Rs. 490 per loaf). It is moist, light and fluffy. Made with cream cheese, it is a pale yellow, soft loaf that pretty much melts in your mouth and is as original as it can get.
The packaging gets them brownie points with their fun colours and minimal design, making it classy and funky at the same time.
Daniel Patissier is a nice place to treat yourself to some of the most interesting flavours, or have a flair for unique desserts. Even though the place is known for its macarons, the cheesecake is a must try as it is one of the best in the city (even though there isn't much to compare it to). The pricing is a little over the top, but is justified given the supreme quality.
