The International No Diet Day, which falls on the 6th of May every year, is celebrated to raise awareness regarding various body types and to spread the message that each body is beautiful and accepted, no matter what shape or size. A movement started by British feminist Mary Evans Young, who herself struggled with body acceptance and anorexia chose to defy all odds and love herself just the way she is. Together with a a group of women, old and young, they all wore stickers that screamed ‘ditch that diet’ and in turn made space for self-love and acceptance.
While I am not trying to underestimate or put down the diet culture, realising that sometimes a restrictive diet forms the line between health and illness, I simply urge you to accept your body as it is and celebrate it today with your favourite, most indulgent food. On the occasion of International No Diet Day—or as I like to call it, the world’s official cheat day— take a look at some of the most appetising and tempting recipes that simply beckon you to taste, before you eventually indulge and devour.

Creamy Chicken Makhani
You know those certain dishes that are reserved only for the most special occasions? Treat the 6th of May as the grandest of special occasions and celebrate with a bowlful of this dreamy and creamy chicken makhani. Street-side Chilli Chicken Egg Frankie
I don’t know about you but I hear the word ‘indulgent‘ and suddenly my mind is traversing through winding streets flanked with food stalls and kiosks on either side, conjuring up a variety of sweet and savoury street food dishes. If you are like me, this chilli chicken egg frankie will not disappoint. Minus the questionable hygiene of the frankie wale bhaiya’s stall, this recipe is a straight up reflection of the real streetside deal.
Samosa Chaat with Salsa
If a full on meal is not so much your idea of celebrating and you are happy in countless snack sessions throughout the day, definitely try out this samosa chaat with salsa. Fusing together the best of Indian and Mexican flavours, this treat is definitely a go-to for those who are always craving for something chatpata.
Butter Chicken Burger
Zesy, delicious and enticing, in case you are wondering how one would describe this butter chicken burger. A satiating treat through and through ensuring that it calms your craving for junk while also satisfying your taste buds, this butter chicken burger should most certainly be on your list of favourites this No Diet Day.
Grilled Cheese Roll Ups
Lastly, to round up this list we have the king of all indulgence: quick and easy grilled cheese roll ups. Because after all, a cheat day will always be incomplete unless you don’t gorge down on something cheesy. Am I right or am I right?
This International No Diet Day, take things a little easy and choose to celebrate yourself just the way you are. After all, our bodies work very hard just to survive and we could all do with being a little patient and loving ourselves.
