In the cooker add masoor dal, chopped onion, chopped tomato, grated ginger and garlic, salt, turmeric powder, water and mix them together.
Cook them at least for 3 whistles.
For Tempering: - To the small pan add ghee, cumin seeds, chopped ginger, garlic pods, curry leaves, dry red chili, asafoetida and mix them together for 1 minute.
Masoor dal tadka is ready to serve with hot steamed rice.
