Indian Spiced Rice
"A homemade Masala Bhat is very delicious in taste. And you can make it at your home in easy and quick steps. The recipe of a traditional Maharashtrian delicacy, Masala Bhat is very simple to follow. Masala Bhat is also known as Indian Spiced Rice.

- Heat 3-4 tbsp oil
- Once the oil is hot, add 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Add 1 tsp garam masala
- Add 1 tbsp half crushed garlic-ginger-green chilli paste
- Add 1 tsp goda masala
- Add 1 tsp mix masala
- Add coriander according to requirement
- Add 3-4 finely chopped onions
- Add salt according to taste
- Mix well
- TIP: The key flavour in the masale bhaat is because of Goda masala
- TIP: Do not overcook the onions
- Now add the chopped mix vegetables
- Mix well
- TIP: Ensure all the vegetables are well coated with the masala
- Now add 1 cup washed rice
- Mix well
- TIP: Always add double the quantity of water to the amount of rice being used
- Add 2 cups water for 1 cup rice
- Mix well
- Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the rice cook for 10 mins on a high flame
- TIP: Once the rice boils, make the flame low
- Let the rice cook under the steam
- Once the rice has cooked, garnish with coriander
- TIP: You can also use grated coconut and cashwes to make this rice
- Ready to serve
